Juniper Kitchen and Wine Bar - July 16, 2007
3 out of 6 people found this review helpful. Why change a good thing? Juniper at its old location was a charming gem in Ottawa. A cozy atmosphere, charming service and excellent food on top of it. Then they decided to move to a bigger location.... The new location lacks the charm and warmth of the old place. Converting a car showroom into a restaurant was not a good idea. The place is cold and sterile. It feels like you are at a Boston Pizza. I am so sorry that Juniper has changed what was a winning formula. Even the food is not up to the old standards. It seems that the new location is too big for them to handle since there was a lack of consistency in the quality of the food served.
I do not recommend this place.

Meditheo Restaurant & Bar - July 16, 2007
3 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Only been there once, so it might be a case of a bad night. But considering how much they charge for the food, you would expect a lot more. Their tapas was categorically un-interesting and almost edging on bad for some choices. Nothing special about the atmosphere, nor the service. A very lack luster experience.
I do not recommend this place.

Ceylonta Restaurant - July 16, 2007
4 out of 6 people found this review helpful. A very simple setting, but nothing simple about the flavours. Serving southern Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine, this place is a rare gem. If you are looking for Massala Dhosa's or an authentic Thali, this is the plae to go. Ceylonta offers a very decent lunch buffet, and the dinner menu has a lot of traditional goodies. The owner and staff are very friendly, and the place is high on the scale of 'un-prtentiousness'.
I recommend this place.

Libnan Bakery Inc - July 16, 2007
5 out of 6 people found this review helpful. This place boasts Ottawa's best 'Manakish', a sort of Middle Eastern focaccia. In addition they serve a variety of pre-packaged Lebanese appetizers that are fresh and delicious. The establishment is simple yet extremely clean and unpretentious. The staff and owners are extremely friendly.
I recommend this place.
