I have to agree with the above reviews. The selection and location are unbeatable, however the customer service leaves something to be desired. I've been gaming for about 20 years now and I'm still made to feel like a foolish newbie every time I ask a question. Ah well, as long as you know what you are looking for and don't need additional information, this is the place to go. I recommend this place. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report as Spam |

One of the best gaming store in Canada. Wide selection of traditional and modern boardgames, military history books, cards, miniatures. Also, you can find everything for the typical D & D or Warhammer geek. However, model makers or miniatures collectors might want to look elsewhere for hobby supplies other than paint or glue (try the Hobby House on Vanier rd. instead) Don't expect the kind of well organised location or the service you'd receive from a mall store. In case a doubt, ask a fellow gamer to accompany you and help you out with their selection. This said, independent gaming stores, much like familiy-owned music instrument stores, are now a dying breed and Fandom II has the merit of having supported the gaming scene since the 70's. Great selection, unbeatable location, gaming space downstairs 2 negative points only. 1 of the 2 running the store is surly, rude, unhelpful, grumpy, and all around unpleasant. The other fellow running the store is attentive, helpful, courteous, professional, and a joy to interact with. I have taken to flat out not buying from the first, and waiting until the second fellow is working. I think the second fellow is the only reason they stay in business. The other downside (actually it's mixed) is that they tend to get new releases very promptely and early, however any attempt to order a special order of something that is not a new release is liable to have you waiting for weeks on end, if it comes in at all. This is a great store for the board game lover in your household. The staff are typical comic book types, but that adds to some of the fun! It's an experience.

Fandom II is my primary place for buying games. The staff have helped me out incredibly, holding books for me and placing orders at my request. They *do* have debit machines, but do not take credit cards. Fandom II has an excellent selection, in RPGs, Minis, Board Games, and other materials. Fandom II is the best store in Ottawa for gaming. Excellent selection of games but notoriously poor customer service. Dont expect to get any help from the staff, they tend to be condescending. Imagine "Comic Book Guy" from the Simpsons. They seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful to customers, from being rude, to not offering services like debit. Nonetheless, I've shopped here over a decade, and their prices are better then the Wizards Tower at UofO and their selection of board games the best in Ottawa.
