I am shopping around for a gig drumset so I can leave the studio drumkit in place. I wandered in here and was looking at their kits. First of all I found their prices extremely high and kits of a very very low quality. However I was curious about "Intex drums" as I have never heard of them. The old (I hesitate to use this term) gentleman came over and I asked him of what qualitity is Intex, are they comparative to an entry level kit etc. He had no clue except to say 50 percent off and if I don't want them then I can leave his store. He also said we don't need your kind here (for whatever it's worth I was in uniform), he continued to harass me all the way out of the store. I declined to offer a comeback as I will not stoop to his level. The store sells crappy equipment, the old man is rude beyond compare and the prices are ridiculous even at 50 percent off. I will never set foot in this place again nor will my band members. I highly recommend never shopping at this place to anyone. It is a low level store both in management and equipment. I am shocked this place has been around so long.
I do not recommend this place.

3 out of 3 people found this review helpful. This place is definetly run by crooks. I once tried to bargain with the old man and he told me I was stupid and to get out of the store. He will always approach a man before a woman and be very rude to women in general. The other woman who works there makes you feel very uncomfortable while shopping. The old man will basically follow you around the store trying to rip you off and getting really upset with you if you don't purchase a product. Shopping there was not only a bad experience, it was the worst experience. I don't understand for the life of me how it is still in business. DO NOT GO, they will rip you off. It is and will always be their 45th anniversary sale so don't fall for it. Lets unite and take this shit place down!
I do not recommend this place.

THIS INTERCONTINENTAL MUSIC STORE IS A SHIT (SORRY FOR THE WORD)
ONE DAY, I WAS WALKING NEAR THE STORE AND SAW 75% OFF TODAY
I WANTED TO CHECK THE PRICES, SO I WENT INSIDE. WHILE I WAS LOOKING AT THE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE PRICES, AN OLD MAN APPROACHED ME AND OFFERED TO HELP. HE ASKED ME WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, I SAID A GUITAR. HE IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO SUGGEST SOME GUITARS AND WANTED ME TO CHOOSE. I SAID I AM PROBABLY NOT GOING TO BUY TODAY BUT CERTAINLY I WILL COME BACK. THEN HE GOT ANGRY AND ASKED ME TO LEAVE THE STORE. I ASKED HIM WHY HE WAS AGGRESSIVE? HE SAID THAT PEOPLE DON'T COME TO A STORE IF THEY DON'T BUY. AT THAT TIME I DIDN'T KNOW THAT HE WAS THE BOSS, SO I WENT TO SPEAK WITH A WOMAN AT THE COUNTER. SHE SAID "HE SI THE BOSS". I ASKED HER IF HE TREATS ALL CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT, THEN SHE SAID "EXCUSE ME SIR BUT I ONLY DEAL WITH THE COMPUTER". SO I UNDERSTOOD THAT IT WAS A PSYCHO STORE. WHEN I WAS LEAVING, I SAID POLITELY TO THE OLD MAN "HAVE A NICE DAY SIR". GUESS WHAT? HE SAID COME ONLY IF YOU WANT TO BUY....I ASKED HIM TO BE POLITE, WHICH MADE HIM GO CRAZY. "I AM OLDER THAN YOU AND SMARTER THAN YOU". I SAID OK BUT BE POLITE TO CUSTOMERS. THEN HE SHOWED ME A PAPER STUCK ON A WALL WHERE WAS DISPLAYED THE ONTARIO LAW RELATED TO TRESPASSING AND PRIVATE PROPERTY. HONESTLY, I COULDN'T STOP MYSELF OF TELLING HIM THAT HE WAS WEIRD, SO HE INSULTED ME AND MY FAMILY WITH SOME BAD WORDS....AFTER WHICH I LEFT HIS STUPID STORE...
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS BUSINESS IS STILL RUNNING, BUT THIS WAS MY STORY WITH INTERCONTINENTAL MUSIC.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY FROM IT.....
THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER RESPECTFUL STORES AROUND OTTAWA.

I do not recommend this place.

6 out of 6 people found this review helpful. How on earth can this place stay in business? I was literally kicked out of that stupid store. Those people are nevrotic nerds and should never be in business. Never ever have I been treated so badly in my life in a store.I've played in Europe, North America, South America, on radio, television in concerts...I'm a doctor who work with the public, never, no, no, never have I been treated like that.
It has to be a front, they can't stay in business treating people like that.

I do not recommend this place.

22 out of 24 people found this review helpful. I went into this store to check it out as well and was very disappointed with the 2 brands carried and the quality of instruments. The guitars were just junk and the old man working there was a retard. The expensive guitars felt like low end junk sounded even worse and did not have any quality components. I warn anyone going to this store that the guy is basically a con artist. The guy got mad at me because i new the guitar i was playing was not a good one and he said it had nice wood on it. The body was made of plywood and had the worst pickups and neck and the intonation was way off. SHITTY STORE SHITTY SERVICE SHITTY SHITTY STUFF! ENOUGH SAID.
I do not recommend this place.

21 out of 23 people found this review helpful. I was told to "get out" of Interc. Music for wanting to try a guitar before buying ???? The owner an elderly man of Eastern European extraction told me " I know your type, you try, you buy on Internet". When I told him that I was now going to use the internet to report his behavior he said he would have me put in jail ??????
I told him what i thought of him and his business, and left.
The store was completely empty on a Saturday afternoon - I wonder why.
Please do your self favour and stay away, unless you like being insulted while trying to spend your money.

I recommend this place.

20 out of 22 people found this review helpful. My girlfriend and I took a day to visit as many of the music stores & pawn shops in Ottawa as we could. One of the places we checked out was Intercontinental music. This place is kept by people who do not know anything about their instruments. First off, the only two brands they carry are Simon and Baron, both of which are low-end quality guitars, yet they are tagged with prices worthy of good quality Fenders & high-quality Epiphones. The walls are nearly plastered with signs informing the customer that they reserve the right to ask you to leave, that you need to ask permission to try out instruments for more than 5 minutes, and most interestingly of all, that you are forbidden from writing down the brands and prices at their store (as if that wasn't blatantly telling you that they're ripping you off). One section stated that "in celebration of Baron's anniversary" (I think it was 15 years), some specially-marked items are priced at 50% off. Guess what? Said items weren't even set up properly & the bridges on the guitars were practically popping off. This is a store run by crooks, who have no idea how to maintain their instruments properly. Do yourself a favour: go to Lauzon Music, Spaceman Music, Steve's Music, Long & McQuade's, or St-John's Music. DON'T GO TO INTERCONTINENTAL MUSIC. You will regret it instantly, I gurantee it.
I do not recommend this place.

42 out of 45 people found this review helpful. I went in to Intercontinental Music with $1500 and my 7-year old son to purchase 2 electric guitars. While looking through the selection, a fellow shopper asked what I thought about the store pricing. I informed her that she could get a hi-end Epiphone Les Paul AND case for the price of the cheap Simon Les Paul on the wall. The owner rudely and angrily put his hands in each of our faces and commanded us to not talk to each other. I said I had enough of that and informed him I will spend my money elsewhere. He followed us to the exit while cursing and belittling me and my 7-year old son. Needless to say, I will NEVER shop there or recommend Intercontinental Music to anyone. He carries low-end crap and asks 2-3 times the market value for it. Then he has the nerve to treat a customer (with a child) like that? No people skill whatsoever. I went to Steves Music and explained my experience. They laughed and gave me an extra 10% off for the "entertaining story". DON'T SHOP AT INTERCONTINENTAL MUSIC!
