The 'Ex' is something of a relic of a bygone age, and a bit of a sad commentary on Ottawa. We're a big city! We're not some hick town with a 'plowing match' -- we have a major fair with real excitement!
We are a hick town, albeit a big one. Ottawa Valley area plowing matches are more fun, and more honest. The bands are never big names, the rides are never big fun, and many of the 'attractions' are rubes-only.
What agricultural fair elements remain tend to get hidden behind the rusty rides and retailing.
Still enough fun for the kids to rate a 2 rather than bottom-of-the-barrel 1, and adults with a keen sense of irony will have some fun, but the rest are better off at the Toronto version of this, or a genuine small-town one.
I do not recommend this place.
